When to use this metronome
Use the metronome when you already know the tempo and want a steady pulse while you play. Start and stop stay on this page. The click does not upload anywhere.
Choose 4/4 for most popular-meter work, 3/4 for a waltz feel, and 2/4 for a march. For 6/8, the tool counts two dotted-quarter beats in the bar, which is the pulse a conductor usually beats.
Optional eighth and sixteenth clicks sit under that pulse. They are quieter than the beat. Accent on beat one is a higher click, not a different piece of hardware.

Worked examples
One beat each second. The accent returns every four seconds. How even is your quarter note if you play one note per click?
A beat every 0.5 seconds. The accent returns every two seconds. Can you keep eighth notes even against that pulse?
Two dotted-quarter beats per bar, so one bar lasts 1.33 seconds. Do you feel the bar as two groups of three?

Why is 6/8 only two clicks per bar?
This metronome treats 6/8 as two dotted-quarter beats. Turn on eighth subdivisions if you want six lighter clicks in the bar, with the accent still on beat one.
Is an empty or zero BPM allowed?
No. The tempo field must be a number greater than 0. The tool will not start a click at 0, and it will not show Infinity.
