How the practice loop counts

The practice loop does not start a second metronome. It starts the shared click and watches beat one of each bar. The order is count-in, then play, then rest, then the next repeat.

Count-in bars come first. If you set count-in to 2, you hear two full bars of click before the first play bar. Enter on the downbeat after those two bars, not during them. A count-in of 0 starts play on the first downbeat.

Play bars are the work. Rest bars keep the click going while you wait. After the last repeat, the click stops. An optional BPM step is added to the stored tempo when a repeat finishes, so the next play block can be a little faster.

The practice log stores play bars only. Count-in and rest are not added. 6/8 still uses two dotted-quarter beats in each bar, the same as the metronome. A full page load stops Web Audio; start the loop again if you leave the page.
